Eva joined Zurich in 1997 as Regional Internal Auditor Asia and has progressed in Zurich Hong Kong through a number of roles including Financial Controller, Head of Corporate Planning, General Manager, CFO & COO. Eva has hands-on knowledge  in strategic & operational planning, performance management, systems implementation, project management, operating governance framework, investment appraisal, capital & cost management.

 

In 2006, Eva relocated to Beijing to help run the first Zurich General Insurance branch in China. She became Finance Director, Asia in 2007 to focus on running  Zurich’s investment in New China Life Insurance Company, number 5 life player in the market.   In mid 2008, Eva returned to Hong Kong as CFO for Greater China & South East Asia. Eva started serving on subsidiary boards of Zurich Insurance in the Asia region since 2009 whilst carrying out on-site merger & acquisition work as needed. Since January 2015 until her return to Hong Kong in 2017, Eva was CEO for Zurich Insurance Taiwan, rejuvenating the company before its sale to Hotai Group associated with the Toyota Motor Group. 

 

Prior to 1997,  Eva worked for PWC London and Hong Kong for 8 and 2 years respectively. She specialized in audit and due-diligence reviews of financial institutions. Her regular audit clients include Prudential, Commercial Union, AIG, National Mutual (now AXA), Minxin Group,  China Merchants. She has managed a number of due-diligence reviews related to mergers and acquisitions including the insurance arm of Banque of Indosuez (Paris), syndicates of Lloyds of London, Agricultural Bank of China.  Eva left PWC as a senior manager.

Eva Ip had worked in Hong Kong as Senior Project Consultant for Zurich Insurance – APAC GI region, focusing on special projects and insurance finance training. She is also a board member of Zurich Taiwan. Prior to her current role, Eva was CFO, Greater China & South East Asia, where she spent considerable time setting up the regional finance infrastructure and China development work.

Eva possesses hands-on knowledge of all aspects of finance management, corporate and operating governance .Over the past years, Eva has been laying out the foundation for “finance for non-finance managers”, "Strategic Thinking" and "Risk-related" Trainings.

Eva graduated from the University of Kent, Canterbury in England in 1987 and was the first overseas student in the university to have won the Ernst & Whinney Prize for a first-class honour for the course “Organisation, Information and Control”.

 

She is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales and a graduate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators. She won the “Li Po Chun Scholarship” in 1984  in the Hong Kong Polytechnic.
